Kimberly Higginbotham received her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in May of 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with minors in French and history from Louisiana State University.

During law school, Kimberly was a member of the Louisiana Law Review and received the Henri Capitant Award for Outstanding Student Article on a Civil Law or Comparative Law Topic. In August of 2007, Kimberly was appointed as the first student member to the Louisiana State Law Institute Community Property Reimbursement Rights Committee charged by the state legislature to recommend revision of the Civil Code articles concerning reimbursement rights among spouses. For excellence in trial advocacy, Kimberly was admitted into the Wex S. Malone Chapter of the American Inns of Court. She also took part in the BMI Entertainment and Communications Law Moot Court Competition held at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. Kimberly appeared in the Chancellor's List in 2006 and served as an LSU Law Ambassador, a member of the LSU Intellectual Property Law Society, and a member of the Legal Association of Women.

Currently, Kimberly is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the Louisiana Federal Bar Association and is admitted to practice in all federal and state courts in Louisiana.
